The Snake Mountain everyone has been wanting - Castle Broskull style!

Hi all,

So, I get a LOT of requests from Snake Mountain. And I always say the same thing.... Send me one, and I will customize it. It will look great.

But no one sends them.

I always wondered why?

Well, then I went on ebay and saw they are super expensive...WAY too much just for a shell. I bit the bullet and got one. $55 shipped. (I normally pay $30-35 shipped for Grayskull shells. tops)

This being the beginning of FALL...and the season for creepy...I decided now was the time to customize it. My goal, to bring out what the toy was meant to look like. I focused on images from the cartoon and comics and had a real clear idea in my head.

Here is how it turned out. Epic-ally RAD!

Perfection. Love it.

I took my normal approach. Clean and Gesso first. Then undercoat black. THEN....oh man, this was fun...I layer six shades of blue and purple and then a magenta and a straight red. Then, I did some pink and white highlights.

It shaped up quick and looked exactly how I wanted it to.

I painted the snake different for contrast and added some glow in dark and glitter to his scales.

Gate is painted in flat black and grey with some rust colors. I wanted that part to look very  different since I imagine it as a different stone (onyx?) than the rest of the mountain.

I added moss and skulls, my trademarks...and I poured some sand down the path to make it look like it has a real dirt path.

My Snake Mountain brings all the boys to the yard...

Damn right, it's better than yours...

I wanted to fill that space at the bottom, so I put some Halloween spider webs in there for a smoke effect. BOOM! Perfect.

Added fun! Treasure chest and a sparkling snake.
You all know, I always add things to my castles. Treasure chest, key, weapons, shields, gems, skulls...etc. I decided that Snake Mountain needed a snake. I did not attach them, so the new owner can move them around.

FYI-The inside is painted black and shaded. That's it.

So who bought this one?

Well, I made it a prize in a raffle and the winner....get this...she decided to gift it to another guy who REALLY wanted it. Like, she entered, but did not care if she won. And she won. So she gave it to one of the other guys...

MAN, this is why I paint toys. This is why I do raffles and keep my prices affordable. I like putting these gems in the hands of people who will love them. And the girl who won the raffle did just that. SHE understands Castle Broskull. And I love that.

I hope you like. So far it has had hundreds of likes on social media, and people are in love with it. I want to do another one but... SOMEONE has to send me a Snake Mountain shell! :)

Thanks all!

Castle Broskull August Projects completed while finishing my 8th book.

Hey all,

If you didn't know already...yes, I'm a professional artist. But I'm also a published author. I've written eight books to date. (don't judge my writing skills by my blog Two different beasts.)

August, I started to push myself to finish a novel I have been writing the last year. I was half done and decided I could finish it...if I focused almost all of my time.

Now, mind you, I don't write cheesy short books. I write novels that are in the 100,000 word range. So, in the month of August, I wrote about 45,000 words. BOOM!

Yeah, it was not easy. I had a lot of lost days to migraines. Stress... And a few days of taking day trips around Oregon and Washington.

But my nights are always focused on Castle Broskull work. STILL I had delays with the forest fires and heat effecting my spray paints. And spray sealants. This is why I prefer hand-painting.

So the heat is gone, the book is written, and I am back to work big time on custom projects.

Here are some of the projects I finished last month...regardless of being super busy and all...

***Oh, side note. Grayskull #30 was created and raffled off to the fans and supporters of Castle Broskull. The winner then gave it to his friend who was having a hard time. THAT is RAD. That is how people should be. That is coolness all around. Everyone involved gave back. Loved it. Thanks, Michael.

The Fisher Price 1970s boat turned into Dreadnok Gunship!

Fun project. For Sale!

It's post apocalyptic too!

Rusted...but it still fires! LOL (not really)

Started out looking like this!

Grayskull #31 -  Blues and Silver.

For a commission, I did this Blue Grayskull. Love how it looks.

Fun job. Great guy to work with!

Zartan and his Slick Ride.

Murdered out - all black Zartan

And his slick ride. And his gems!

Fun and easy commission.

Tiger Force Snake Armor!

My new favorite toy to paint!

So many options!

I love how it turned out.

Okay, that's just a few things to show. Hope you like them.

Remember, if you send me the toy, the custom job is cheaper than me having to buy one or sell you one I have. But I will do it either way.

Thanks all!

The newest GRAYSKULL!!! This is Grayskull job 29!

Hi all,

Been so busy. I can't seem to update with all the jobs I have done. It is crazy.

Here is an important one. A major one. This is the first full deluxe Castle Grayskull job I have done in a while. Normally, I get basic commissions for Grayskulls. But this one...this one I was tasked to paint EVERYTHING for the first time. And we, the Lords of Castle Broskull, did just that!

*Lady Broskull painted the weapons. :)

Here it is. The Dragon Bone Castle!

Painted with almost 10 layers of paint. Browns, blacks, greens, reds, oranges, yellows, blues and purples!

With all the fix'ns!

Above you will see two pictures taken inside with natural light. You can see all the time that went into this.

I painted it with a black undercoat and a brown base. I added so many colors. And then did a lava flow down the sides. So I added even more colors and texture and shimmer!

The colors in the roof are meant to look like dragon scales and they color shift a lot. So depending on the light or angle you look at them they appear more blue or purple. It is a cool effect.

Below is the castle photographed outside in the sun and 100 degree

Pointed Lizard Tongue

The figure was alive before the photos...the heat killed him!
I added moss, skulls, treasure chests, gems, keys, a skeleton and more. It has all sorts of fun additions from the Castle Broskull vaults!

Some of the accessories.

Fully painted and customized weapons rack and weapons.

Aged to perfection!

Gun was made to look metallic and rusty.

Trademark Castle Broskull add-on Skeleton. He was painted to look charred.

Tower and gun.

Painted the throne in the same color as roof to match dragon scales.

Skulls are hidden all over. Inside and out.

Interior details.

That treasure is a trap!

So this was a big job. Full deluxe and themed job. I was sent the castle and all the parts and I worked very hard on it for over a month. I think it turned out great and might be my favorite one of all the Grayskulls  have done. It turned out to be the 29th one commissioned and finished.

Hope you like it.

So the next one, the 30th Castle...will be a prize for a contest on FB. Be sure to look for updates.

Thanks all!

Castle Broskull has jets and figures and trucks and tanks and.... Business is booming!

Hi all,

Back from taking a few weeks off from blogging to focus on writing my novel. And getting projects done.

Not to mention, lost a few days....with like 8-10 migraines this month... yuck!

Regardless, lots of new finished projects to share. Many thanks to the Lady of Castle Broskull, who has been painting up a storm too.

So let me get right to it.

Let's start with MOTU.

I was hired to make a MOTU crossover with DC's Black Manta. I knew this was gonna be fun, so I hit ebay and found some parts. Basically, this is a FAKER body with an existing Black Manta head. Getting them to fit together was the hard part. I manged to do so...and the head still tilts up and down. Very happy with that.

Black Manta!

Next up, is my restore job of an old MOTU Windraider. It was broken and in poor...poor condition. I cleaned it. Stripped it of its old stickers, primed it, undercoated it and then hand-painted it.

I waited like 2 months for some repro stickers.... all I wanted to do was put the computer panels in. That's it. So here it is finally finished.

Love this restore job - and I am keeping it!

Favorite part? The ice on the wings.

Okay! You know Castle Broskull loves crossover projects. So I bought (2) broken Soundwave G1 Transformers. One to restore and do something RAD with. Another to make into a Cobra Battle Android Trooper.

Yes, that is a Fallout PVC figure head. I needed to find this thing a new head, it had NO head!!! So, I went online and looked and looked. Finally, I found something that was the right size and style. People love it. So do I!

It transitions perfectly!

Look at it!

So much fun and it got a TON of likes on FB. Several hundred.

Side by Side comparison.

Look, it could be the Joe figure's daddy. LOL.

Want more? Well, since everyone loved the Thundercracker GIJOE- Transformer crossover...and we here at Castle Broskull loved making it... We went forward and made SKYWARP!!!

You know, the 2nd one is always better than the first. It's like you learn the first time around and then knock the 2nd one out of the park. This SKYWARP is a good example. I think it turned out amazing!!!

AND!!! I am making two more of them for custom orders. I can make more...just message me and ask.

Love this pic!

It's wicked!

Okay, that's it for now. I will share more later. I am finishing up a CHUCKLES Force GI JOE set. Which if you follow me on FB you have seen some of already. I also did three customer appreciation projects. These projects were to give back to three of my big commission customers. I did three small free projects and shipped two of them out today. I will show them off next week.

Thanks all!
